# Introduction

Welcome to Velo (Vey-lo).

Velo is an opinionated, fast, and beautiful web framework for [Bun](https://bun.sh). It is designed to be simple and easy to use, yet powerful and extensible. Velo takes inspiration from frameworks like [Express](https://expressjs.com), [Hono](https://hono.dev), and [ElysiaJS](https://elysiajs.com). It is built with care and made for developers who want to build web applications quickly and efficiently. Velo aims to standardize the architecture of web applications and provide tools for developers to grow with ease.

### What does "Velo" mean?

* Velo is an Italian word that can mean "fast", even though it translates to "veil".
* Veloc or Veloce is an Italian word that means "fast" or "speed".
* Velo could also be interpreted as a short form of "velocity".
